Co-op Day & U District

This weekend definitely kept up the madness of the week. I got home from San Francisco on Thursday, chilled on Friday, then Saturday and Sunday were action-packed.

We had two separate co-op events planned on Saturday, so that was pretty crazy. Northeastern planned a trip to the EMP museum (Experience Music Project) for Saturday afternoon. I went with my mom about a month ago, but it was fun to go again with a new group of people. I noticed more details the second time around, things I passed over the first time. No pictures, sorry! But go back to when I wrote about it the first time!

Saturday evening, Amazon planned an intern outing to the Seattle Sounders soccer game. They play at Century Link Field, which is the same place that the NFL Champion Seattle Seahawks play, and where Amazon had their holiday party. Considering I know absolutely nothing about Major League Soccer, I went purely for the experience and social aspect. We met at Occidental Park an hour before the game for the March to the Match  which is really just a fan parade to the field. The fans were really into it and the band was awesome and everything was lime green. And it was one of the last beautiful moments before the rain.
Our seats were uncovered and, as if on cue, it started the pour the second we got to them. I have never been covered in that much rain in my entire life. My rain jacket is great and all, but my jeans/shoes/body were soaked. A few of us ended up leaving at the half, which was definitely a good call. But it was cool to see everyone so excited about the game even while sitting in the pouring rain. The true Seattle spirit.
On Sunday, my roommate and I went on an adventure to the University District (AKA "U District") which is the area surrounding the University of Washington (AKA "Udub"). We were gone for 7 hours and it was AWESOME! It was mostly just exciting to be around kids our own age, since everyone we work with is married with children and everyone who lives Downtown is like 30. What's even more exciting is it was SUNNY! AND WARM! Spring has officially sprung. See this picture of the quad...

And me by a blossoming tree...

After that, we walked down University Way (AKA "The Ave" since the U District is clearly into abbreviations) and had lunch at a super good Lebanese place called Cedar's. Their falafel was awesome and I was also starving so it was the absolute best. The Ave is where everything happens: cheap food from every single cuisine, campus book store, thrift shops, convenient stores, etc. I can see myself going back to the real college town the near future.

Next stop on the adventure was the University Village shopping center, a short bus ride from the main campus. It's an outdoor mall (which is surprising considering no where deserves an indoor mall more than Seattle, Washington) but it was awesome today because it was so nice outside!

We took the bus home, and had to transfer in Fremont, which was the first time I experienced that district. The bus dropped us off under and overpass (underpass?) and we had to walk up stairs to the bus stop of the second bus. During that short walk, we happened across the legendary Fremont Troll, which I had heard about from other co-ops and read about online, but never thought to go to myself. It's kinda super creepy but cool at the same time. There's nothing to do there but take a picture and move on, but still, I'm glad I saw it.

So now I'm going to sleep for 7 years and prepare for what will be a fun-packed (kidding) week at work. But I'm looking forward to the free day at the Seattle Art Museum on Thursday! More museums woo!
