Weekend with Sharron!

This weekend broke the monotony of the past month for several reasons. Most notably, Aunt Sharron came to visit me! It was so great to see her for the first time since Christmas. Secondly, it was sunny and warm as opposed to when my mom visited. We were outside for all of Saturday, walked 5 miles and saw EVERYTHING! It was so much fun!

Friday:

Sissy got into the city while I was at work, so she explored a little on her own until we met up for dinner.
  • Dinner at Etta's on the waterfront. It is a Tom Douglas restaurant that specializes in seafood and definitely lived up to the reputation of his empire.
  • First Starbucks. I've walked past it a trillion times, but never went in. It's really small and doesn't have tables. We bought souvenir mugs and thrived in the touristiness.

Saturday:

  • Breakfast at Portage Bay Cafe in South Lake Union. All the other co-ops rave about this place, so I made a reservation to avoid the hour-long wait and it was awesome! Mass amounts of food required for the madness of activity to follow.

  • Amazon's campus in South Lake Union
  • Lake Union
  • Space Needle
  • Olympic Sculpture Park
  • Pike Place Market
  • Lunch at The Pike Brewing Company. Lots of people come here to do tastings of all their beer, but we just went for lunch and ate killer hummus.
  • Gum Wall. So gross, but also awesome. Go, take a picture, and leave.

  • Seattle Art Museum. Walked in, saw the sculptures in the lobby and outside, then moved on.
  • Underground Tour in Pioneer Square. Mom did this while I was at work when she visited, so I was glad to finally have the chance to go myself. Turns out, the entire city of Seattle is built a level above the original city (for gross sewage reasons. I'll spare you the details). So, they give tours of the original city that is now underground. Super cool things.

  • Took the bus home (there is no way we could have walked the mile and a half back downtown).
  • Dinner at Mama's Mexican Kitchen in Belltown. The best Mexican food I have every had, hands down. It was amazing and I want to eat every meal there. The salsa is perfectly spicy and the food portions are the right size and cheap. It is close to my apartment and always open. The walls are colorful and everything tastes homemade. I can't wait to go back.
  • Sleep!

Sunday:

  • Breakfast at Top Pot. Since my mom raved about their donuts, I had to bring Sharron there too. I got the cherry cake doughnut for the first time and it's my new favorite. Not that I needed a new reason to go back.
  • My apartment. Showed Sharron my super sweet apartment before she had to go to the airport.

It was so sad after she left when I had to do normal regular things like grocery shopping and laundry. I'm still in pain (3 days later) from the amount of walking we did on Saturday. But the bright side is I had exciting things to say when my co-workers asked me what I did last weekend.

Dad comes in 2 weeks and I can't wait! We're going to do completely different things like hiking so that will be fun too! Stay tuned for pictures! :)
