Friday night: Mariners game
Although I have been to CenturyLink Field (where the Seahawks and Sounders play), this was my first time at Safeco, the baseball field next to it. We had AMAZING seats in the second row behind the visiting team's dugout. I liked the stadium a lot: awesome food, easy to get around and clean. John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox on Scrubs, AKA one of the funniest people to ever have been on TV) threw the first pitch and I was so excited. And we were so close!
The Mariners lost but it was still a really fun game! Not too cold and it didn't rain (there is a retractable roof over the field, but they decided to open it, even though it was 50 degrees). Great time!
Saturday morning: Tiger Mountain
The guide book labeled this hike as "moderate," which is the understatement of the century. It was a great work out, to say the least. During the hike up the mountain, I could have sworn we had been transported into a South American rain forest. It was so green and lush and everything was covered in moss. Really pretty!
Saturday afternoon: Snoqualmie Falls
This tourist attraction is considered the Niagara Falls of the West coast. After trying so hard to find it, it was definitely a highlight of the day.
Snoqualmie Casino
We went here for dinner since it is only 10 minutes from the Falls. It is on a Native American reservation and now I can say I've officially been in a Native American casino like the ones I hear about in the news. It seemed different than the Atlantic City ones I've been in before, but still cool. Great meal at the Asian restaurant inside.
Sunday: Mt. Rainier
I feel like Mt. Rainier is the mother of all nature in Washington, and we went there on Mother's Day, so it's kind of appropriate, right? It is only viewable through the clouds about 60 days per year, and we were lucky enough to see it yesterday. It was a clear, warm day and the windy drive to and up the mountain was pretty fun. It was great to get out of the city and see such an awe-inspiring sight.
And now I am back to cooking for myself and working all day in the city. Although I'm not planning any more hikes any time soon, I couldn't think of a better was to have spent this weekend.
