One Month of Amazing Food

With the conclusion of January, I have officially been living in Seattle for a month. Got my first paycheck, paid the credit card bill, all of the classic month-end things make it seem real. This seems like a good time to reflect and share all of the amazing food that I have enjoyed during my time here. Vancouver food highlights were mentioned previously, but here are a few (or a lot) of the crazy-awesome good eats that Seattle has to offer:

1. Serious Biscuit

Frittata, tomato, caper and arugula biscuit.
Serious Pie pizza place by night, Serious Biscuit brunch place by day. The combination is genius and the food is amazing. The other co-ops and I went to brunch here during our first weekend and I definitely need to go back for dinner at some point in the next 5 months. They have several locations, but this one is on Westlake in South Lake Union, basically on Amazon's campus and just a few blocks from my apartment. Someone got a recommendation for it at work and it turned out to be totally accurate. Great find.

They have location in the lobby of my apartment building, and the strength required to resist going before work is significant. They sell pastries, yogurt, bagels, coffee, juice, tea, smoothies, etc. all from behind a tiny counter. Pretty good stuff and a great option if you're in a hurry. I'm trying not to go all the time, but I know I'll probably go more in the future. The convenience is scary.

3. Piroshky Piroshky

Cranberry Apply Roll
Located across from Pike Place Market, right next to the original Starbucks, this Russian bakery gets a lot of tourist attention. We were drawn into it from the street because of how amazing it smelled. A combination of freshly baking bread and cookies and cinnamon and amazingness. This roll was $2 and took my like 3 days to eat. So yes, I will definitely be going back. To try something else, or stick with this masterpiece...?

4. Dave's Killer Bread

21 Whole Grains
I had a meeting at work with a woman on my team and she brought a loaf of bread into the meeting room to snack on (no judgment...ok, a little). She asked me if I had tried Dave's Killer Bread yet. I said no, I'd never heard of it. She said it is the most amazing bread in the world and it's only sold in grocery stores in Oregon and Washington. And there's a story: Dave was a drug addict and a criminal, went to jail for 15 years, then got out and got clean and started baking and selling bread. Seems legit, right...?

So on my next grocery trip, I found it in the aisle with the other bread. And there are like 20 different varieties. I can honestly say that Dave, your bread is killer. Rumor is he's back in jail, but I don't care as long as the company keeps producing this bread.

5. Top Pot Doughnuts

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut

Yes, I've already posted about Top Pot Doughnuts, and no I haven't been back yet. But, I thought it deserved a second mention, so here it is, right with the other food highlights where it belongs.

6. Petra

Classic Falafel Wrap

Dear Israel, I miss you and your food. I've found a close replacement for your falafel magic, and it lives at Petra Mediterranean Cafe down the street from my office building. There's also a full-fledged sit-down version in Belltown that I really want to try. But for now, this is enough.

7. Victrola Coffee Roasters

Small Americano
The absolute perfect post-morning-yoga drink. This cafe is only a couple blocks from my yoga studio and exemplifies Seattle independent coffee shop coolness. I felt like I could sit in there forever and be a cool person just by being there. Lots of seating, big windows that make it feel bright even when it's gray outside and great coffee. So a total win all around.

8. Zeek's Pizza

Half Chicken Ranch, Half Garden Veggie
Roommate date occurred at Zeek's last night. Probably some of the best pizza I've ever had. It's on the pricier side, but we ended up with tons of leftovers and it was delicious so totally worth it. We chose this restaurant over a bar & grill and a Thai place that are all in this cute neighborhood area called Belltown about a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Although I do want to try the other restaurants eventually, this was a great choice.

Wow, that was a lot of food. I'm not obese, I swear. What's gross is this is only the beginning. Stay tuned for more delicious Seattle findings :)
