A Day of Firsts

According to local standards, I am officially a Seattelite (yes, that's actually what people from Seattle are called. Blogger is trying to change it to Satellite). These three things happened for the first time today, and now I feel fully indoctrinated:

1. First Seattle Starbucks Coffee

It happened. And they even spelled my name right! I had a meeting in a different Amazon building that has a Starbucks in it. I pass it everyday on the way to work and resist. But it was an hour and a half meeting and I still had 4 hours of work after so it had to happen. I'm sorry, coffee hipsters of the city. Corporate coffee won out this time.

Side note: it tastes exactly the same as it does on the east coast. Delicious.

2. First Yoga Class

This is not me. But I think the picture is really cool.

Yoga is HUGE here. There are 3 yoga studios within a block radius of my apartment. My roommate and I signed up for one that has a variety of classes during the evening. We got the 2 month unlimited package for new students so it's pretty cheap! We went straight after work today and it was great! Really relaxing and everything it's supposed to be. I still kind of feel like I have to go to the gym, because it totally was not a work out. Or maybe that was just this class. It was awesome, regardless. I'm going to try to go this weekend too!

3. First Lunch at My Desk

This doesn't have a cute picture because it's not exciting. According to my co-workers, this is the "Amazonion way." To be unsocial and never look up from your computer screen? That sounds really lonely and depressing to me. I don't plan on ever doing this again. But due to extremely large files that took forever to download, I was getting to close to a deadline so I had to cave and do it today. I made the deadline, don't worry. And my graphs are awesome.

Also, friends and family: The red string that an aggressive rabbi tied on my wrist in Israel fell off yesterday. Exactly 5 months after I got back home. So you and I will all be blessed now. Did you feel different today? That was why. You're welcome.

Looking forward to actually exploring the city this weekend now that I'm not super sick. Look out for pictures and stuff!

I'm missing everyone back on the east coast like crazy. Feel free to call/text/email/comment/Facebook message/Skype/whatever!
