Best View of the City: Kerry Park

We had a sunny streak this weekend in Seattle and my roommate and I took advantage of it by getting the best possible view the city.

Kerry Park is not that much of a park. It's about a block long and a sidewalk wide. It has a tree and a statue and a few benches. But the main attraction is the view of the city. Most pictures ever taken on Seattle were taken from Kerry Park. Here's my best shot:

Since the park is in Queen Anne (nearby Seattle district), it's on a huge hill so you get a great vantage point of the entire city and Elliott Bay. The view goes on forever and I couldn't possible catch everything in one picture. Totally worth the 30 minute urban hike we did to get up there.

After taking in that breathtaking view (and sun), we weren't ready to hike back down. There is a local homemade ice cream chain called Molly Moon's that we have been dying to try. Luckily, they have a location a couple blocks from Kerry Park. What's awesome about this place is there only have like 10 flavors, so it's not overwhelming to choose one. I went for one of their seasonal flavors called Sasquatch, named after the 3-day music festival that happened a few weeks ago. It was super rich chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks and granola in it. YUM!

Overall, an extremely successful trip to Queen Anne. I don't know how people live there; the streets are at inclines that you wouldn't believe. I though living on Mission Hill in Boston was bad, but Queen Anne is 10 times worse than the steepest part of Parker. Adorable neighborhoods, though, with gorgeous architecture. If it wasn't such a struggle to get up there, I would hang out in Kerry Park all the time.
